What the role is

You lead and provide psychological care, as well as develop and implement programmes to maintain and enhance the psychological well-being of MINDEF/SAF servicemen.

What you will be working on

  • Monitor and conduct periodic interviews, including basic counselling and management plans
  • Support servicemen requiring professional mental health support
  • Ensure optimal deployment, support, and management of servicemen to maintain psychological readiness
  • Advise and train commanders and supervisors on managing psychological health challenges in the workplace
  • Influence policy decisions related to psychological health at the unit level
  • Work with personnel on a one-to-one basis
  • Professionally develop junior psychologists under your charge

  • Encouraging servicemen to seek help when in distress
  • Keeping abreast of the latest developments in the field of psychological health
  • Maintaining personal mental well-being while dealing with potentially emotionally draining cases

What we are looking for

  • Education in Psychology
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of national-level psychological and social services policies and resources is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with external agencies
  • Independent and innovative thinking
  • Passion for growing the practice of psychology within MINDEF/SAF
