What the role is
You lead and provide psychological care, as well as develop and implement programmes to maintain and enhance the psychological well-being of MINDEF/SAF servicemen.
What you will be working on
- Monitor and conduct periodic interviews, including basic counselling and management plans
- Support servicemen requiring professional mental health support
- Ensure optimal deployment, support, and management of servicemen to maintain psychological readiness
- Advise and train commanders and supervisors on managing psychological health challenges in the workplace
- Influence policy decisions related to psychological health at the unit level
- Work with personnel on a one-to-one basis
- Professionally develop junior psychologists under your charge
Challenge(s) - Encouraging servicemen to seek help when in distress
- Keeping abreast of the latest developments in the field of psychological health
- Maintaining personal mental well-being while dealing with potentially emotionally draining cases
What we are looking for
- Education in Psychology
- At least 6 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of national-level psychological and social services policies and resources is preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to interact professionally with external agencies
- Independent and innovative thinking
- Passion for growing the practice of psychology within MINDEF/SAF
