We opened our first store in February 2016 to fill a gap in the market for the type of high quality all-natural food that we would love to feed our own families. We now have 8 stores, an e-commerce platform and 7 café-bistros with more than 200 team members. Job Description – Fresh Produce Buyer
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Fresh Produce Buyer is responsible for the commercial performance, and reputational integrity of the fresh produce division at Little Farms.
Job Scope
Product
- The maintenance and management of a vibrant and diverse range of fresh produce, sourced from around the world, to both satisfy all basic produce requirements, and offer excitement to our diverse customer base.
- Buying seasonal fresh produce ranges which create excitement and drive incremental sales from wherever in the world the best possible quality is available for the best possible price.
- The development of a (SE Asia) regional organic range of fresh produce to offer a more affordable alternative to Little Farm's premium imported ranges.
- Partnering with the best Singaporean fresh produce growers as appropriate.
- The development of targeted Little Farms branded ranges within fresh produce as appropriate.
Supply Chain
- The continuous review and improvement of the daily/weekly buying schedule and other buying processes.
- The maintenance of product integrity and quality throughout the supply chain – at source, in transit, at warehouse, in store.
- Building and nurturing relationships with suppliers, freight forwarders and local 3rd party logistics providers.
- Communicating purchase orders in a timely and clear fashion to all required suppliers.
- Analysing and adjusting the freight schedule to best preserve product quality, maximise profitable sales and minimise shrinkage.
- Taking the lead on communications with suppliers, freight partners, warehouse teams and stores relating to day to day supply chain matters, quality, availability, product changes etc.
Pricing and margin management
- The close monitoring of wholesale buy prices, gross landed margins and net GPM on a daily, weekly, monthly basis to ensure targets are met.
- Agreeing all retail selling prices for new product launches with Commercial Director prior to launch to achieve prescribed gross landed margin targets.
- Reviewing margins for anomalies in average product costs, incorrect receiving, changes in freight rates, supplier cost adjustment, and taking necessary mitigating actions.
- Being fully aware of fresh produce market prices in Singapore at all times, and ensuring Little Farms are competitive.
Reporting
- Producing and analysing management information to facilitate good business decisions.
- Working with finance to refine and improve management information over time.
Systems
- Becoming conversant in all required systems.
