Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Instructor with a minimum rank of Purple Belt and at least 6 years of consistent training experience to join our academy. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation, proven teaching ability, and the professionalism to work with students of all ages and skill levels. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality classes, fostering a safe and positive learning environment, and supporting the growth of our student community.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging BJJ classes for adults and/or kids, with structured warm-ups, technique instruction, drilling, and sparring.

  • Adapt teaching style to suit beginner, intermediate, and advanced students.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to students to improve their technique and understanding.
  • Promote proper etiquette, discipline, and respect within the academy.
  • Ensure safety standards are met during all training sessions.
  • Assist with curriculum development and progression tracking for students.
  • Support academy events such as seminars, competitions, and demonstrations.
    Act as a positive role model, representing the academy's values inside and outside the gym.

Requirements

  • Minimum rank: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt (IBJJF or equivalent recognition preferred).
  • Experience: At least 6 years of consistent BJJ training.
  • Previous teaching or assistant coaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of both gi and no-gi techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
    Clean background check.

Preferred Attributes

  • Active competition experience and/or a history of coaching competitors.
  • Experience teaching children and youth programs.
  • Knowledge of strength & conditioning, mobility, and injury prevention for grapplers.
    Ability to contribute to academy marketing and social media presence.
