Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize, design, and develop mechanical systems for AMR/AGVs (Autonomous Mobile Robots/Automated Guided Vehicles).
  • Generate release documentation, including detailed fabrication and assembly drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), technical reports, and design calculations.
  • Perform stress and deflection analysis on fabricated and machined structures or components under static and dynamic loading conditions.
  • Size and analyze traction units and suspension systems for mobile robotic platforms to ensure adequate performance and controllability.
  • Be responsible for mechanical/electro-mechanical component selection, material selection, tolerance analysis, and system integration.
  • Package components and sub-assemblies while considering system constraints, ease of assembly, and maintenance.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to mechanical systems.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Concurrent Engineering principles.
  • Perform design validation and develop testing protocols to ensure repeatable and accurate tests.
  • Liaise with vendors and suppliers to determine cost-effective methods of design, production, and quality control.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Essential:Proficiency in Mechanical Design Software, preferably Solidworks (others like Catia, Pro-E, Autodesk Inventor, Solid Edge are also an advantage).
    Strong technical knowledge and solid fundamentals in Statics and Mechanics.
    Strong technical knowledge and fundamentals in Material selection and properties.
    Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and stack-up tolerance analysis.
    Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA),
    Working knowledge in the application of analysis tools like Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design of Experiment (DOE).
