The Recovery Nurse provides critical pre- and post-surgery care, including cleaning wounds, administering medication, and monitoring patients' conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Pre-Surgery

  • Work alongside anesthesiologists, surgeons, and surgical nurses to prepare patients for surgery.
  • Educate patients about surgical procedures, including pre-surgery preparation and recovery expectations.
  • Record vital signs and administer intravenous therapy and medication.
  • Assist in transferring patients safely to the operating room.
  • Clean wounds, sterilize equipment, and ensure patient rooms are properly prepared for surgery and recovery.
  • Communicate with patients' families regarding procedures and patients' conditions.

2) Post-Surgery

  • Monitor patients' vital signs, provide post-anesthesia care, and attend to bandages during recovery.
  • Clean and change bandages, ensuring proper wound care and infection prevention.
  • Administer tests, review lab results, and report findings to surgeons and doctors.
  • Track patient recovery and ensure patients receive adequate nutrition, fluids, and rest.
  • Educate patients on self-care, wound management, and medication upon discharge.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of recovery suites and recovery areas.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in nursing (or equivalent).
  • Valid certification with the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB).
  • Preferred 2–3 years of experience in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) or medical-surgical settings.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including alternate Saturdays and overnight shifts if required.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, compassionate, and resilient when handling patient care.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and cooperative in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to assess and act effectively.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and acquire new skills.
