NEW ROLE: VP – AI / Data Scientist (Cyber Security)

A leading global investment firm is hiring a VP-level AI specialist to join its Cyber Defence team. This is a newly created role offering a rare opportunity to be the first AI-focused hire in the team, where you'll drive the integration of LLMs, NLP, and data science into cyber defence operations.

• Pioneer the use of AI in cyber defence — this is the first role of its kind in the team
• Gain exposure to security while applying your AI/LLM expertise in a practical setting
• Play a strategic role in shaping how the organisation adopts AI tools for cyber resilience
• Be part of a broader initiative to build AI capabilities across governance, engineering, and defence units

Responsibilities

• You'll take the lead in evaluating, developing, and integrating AI solutions into the cyber defence function.
• Assessing internal AI capabilities and tooling
• Benchmarking and evaluating third-party AI-powered cyber solutions
• Designing and building in-house tools where needed
• Operationalising AI use cases in threat detection, exposure management, and response automation
• Applying LLM/NLP techniques to surface intelligence and identify threats
• You'll also be expected to stay ahead of adversarial AI trends, collaborate with internal teams, and help shape a forward-looking AI strategy for the cyber function.

Requirements

• Strong experience in Data Science / NLP / LLMs / Generative AI
• Ability to integrate LLMs with real-world systems and build connectors into broader platforms
• Programming skills (Python preferred), with experience in AI/ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
• Strong interest or passion in cybersecurity — direct experience is a plus, but not mandatory
• Ability to navigate technical and non-technical stakeholders

Note: While 7 years in cyber operations is listed as preferred, the hiring team is open to AI/LLM specialists without cyber ops backgrounds — if you're excited to break into security, we want to hear from you.
