Job Description:

Brokerage Specialist (Customs Specialist)

Location: Roermond, the Netherlands

UPS is looking for a highly knowledgeable and detail-oriented Customs Specialist to drive customs compliance and support efficient bonded warehouse operations.

In this key role, you'll ensure smooth cross-border flows and play a vital part in optimizing our logistics processes within a regulated environment. We're looking for someone who brings both expertise and confidence when navigating complex customs matters.

What you'll do

• Ensure strict compliance with all customs laws, regulations, and international trade agreements.
• Oversee and ensure compliance for all import/export operations, including bonded warehouse.
• Manage all import/export compliance activities, especially related to bonded warehouse operations.
• Handle inventory tracking, reconciliation, and bonded goods movement reporting.
• Prevent delays and penalties by ensuring timely customs clearance or re-export.
• Coordinate with customs authorities, brokers, freight forwarders, and internal departments.
• Keep records audit-ready and stay informed on updates in customs regulations.
• Support certifications like AEO (Authorized Economic Operator).
• Act as internal advisor on customs and bonded warehousing issues.

What you'll need

• 2-5 years of proven experience in customs compliance, bonded warehouse operations, or international logistics.
• Strong knowledge of bonded procedures, customs regulations, tariff classification, and Incoterms.
• Familiarity with customs software systems.
• Certifications such as Certified Customs Declarant or equivalent is a strong advantage.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
