We belongs to AI & Data Division apartment AI Labs team. Our mission is to Create AI-native products offering unique experiences using Rakuten's data and ecosystem. e.g. Ecommerce chatbot assistant, AI-Search.

Why We're Hiring Interns:

Whether it's providing personalized superior user experience to our customers or making informed business decisions, data plays a vital role underlying all AI-driven initiatives. We are looking for an enthusiastic Data Engineer Intern to join our core engineering development team for chatbot and search. You will have the opportunity to participate in building state-of-the-art data systems, propelling the fast iteration of chatbot and search development. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and grow in a real-world project setting, gaining valuable experience in big data and distributed systems.

Position Details:

As a Big Data Engineer Intern, you will:

  • Assist in the design and development of advanced data solutions for personalize functionalities.

  • Participate in building scalable data systems that can handle increasing data sizes and diverse business needs.

  • Learn and apply best practices for data system operations. Provide support for data pipelines used in model training and data analysis. Collaborate closely with experienced engineers to learn about the latest big data technologies and engineering practices.

What We're Looking For:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Solid foundational programming skills with familiarity in at least one programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, Go, or C++.

  • Strong interest in and basic understanding of one or more of the following areas: search engines, personalized recommendations, big data, and distributed storage.

  • Knowledge of fundamental data structures and algorithms.

  • Familiarity with or eagerness to learn Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Flink, Presto, ClickHouse, etc.). Project experience in these areas is a plus.

  • Strong problem-solving mindset and excellent learning agility.

  • Proactive communication skills and a collaborative team player.

  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts is a plus.
