Job Description – Senior COTS Engineer (GIS – ESRI)

Position: Senior COTS Engineer (GIS – ESRI)

Employment Type: 1 year Contract

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer (GIS – ESRI) to join our agile development team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in ESRI's ArcGIS Enterprise suite, strong experience in spatial data integration with FME, and the ability to design, implement, and optimise geospatial solutions. This role requires both hands-on development and technical leadership, with opportunities to shape geospatial architecture and mentor junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and customisation of GIS applications using ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise platform .
  • Develop and maintain FME workflows for spatial data transformation and integration.
  • Build and consume REST APIs for geospatial services and clash analysis.
  • Optimise spatial queries and enhance GIS service performance.
  • Provide technical leadership in geospatial architecture and solution design.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in an agile environment to deliver high-quality solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in GIS development and spatial data analysis.
  • Strong expertise in ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise suite , including:
  • ArcGIS Server
  • ArcGIS Portal
  • ArcGIS Enterprise SDK
  • ArcGIS Pro
  • Extensive experience with FME Desktop and FME Server .
  • Proficiency in REST API development and integration for spatial services.
  • Strong knowledge of spatial databases (Oracle Spatial, PostGIS).
  • Basic to intermediate experience with Python scripting for automation.
  • Knowledge of web mapping technologies and OGC standards (WMS, WFS, WMTS).
  • Experience working in agile development teams .
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Familiarity with cloud GIS deployments (AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of open-source GIS tools (QGIS, GeoServer).
  • Experience with DevOps practices for GIS deployments.
