Research and Professional Standards Manager
On a day-to-day basis the manager will carry out in-house research as well as manage externally outsourced research projects, working together with ANREV committees to develop new initiatives and research on the non-listed real estate industry. The manager will lead qualitative and quantitative research studies and ensure that all projects are delivered to a high standard, are on time and within budget.
Alongside the research duties, the professional standards (PS) manager will work together with the ANREV PS committee to promote the industry guidelines for the non-listed industry. He will also assist in setting up an education program for ANREV members.
This role will report to the Director of Research and Professional Standards.
Responsibilities:
Research
· Manage the end-to-end process of the ANREV surveys and studies, including the data collection, verification, analysis and report writing. Ensure the publication of the ANREV surveys and studies are delivered in an accurate and timely manner.
· Develop and carry out in-house research using ANREV's primary sources of information on the non-listed real estate industry.
· Identify and use appropriate statistical and analytic techniques to support quantitative and qualitative research findings and recommendations.
· Actively contribute to the further development and ongoing improvement of ANREV surveys and studies, as well as ANREV's other primary sources of information. Actively seek participation to expand sample size, improve data quality and accuracy.
· Actively contribute and oversee where necessary research projects outsourced to universities, third party research providers, consultancy firms, etc. to ensure high quality research output that is completed on time and within budget.
· Work closely with affiliate associations, such as INREV, NCREIF and PREA, on new and existing joint projects for further development and to ensure ongoing improvements.
· Actively contribute from a research perspective to other ANREV focus areas, such as professional standards, public affairs, events, training and communications, and work closely with ANREV's focus groups where appropriate and necessary.
· Provide supporting data and analysis for internal and external research projects that uses ANREV's primary sources of information.
Professional standards
· Support the education and implementation of the Guidelines and Standards by fund managers and investors in non-listed real estate vehicles through event / meetings with members and organization of trainings.
· Review the implementation levels of the Guidelines, manage process of providing members with feedback on the general use of the Guidelines and highlight points for improvement.
· Liaise with and support related committees and ad-hoc working groups. The administrative support will include agendas, minutes and follow up on action points, keeping the Professional Standards Director and the Management Board updated on committee activities.
· Build and maintain contacts with members to encourage their participation in guidelines projects and their willingness to share standards and examples.
· Support the development of a training program for ANREV members on the non listed real estate industry, in order to promote best practices as well as knowledge of ANREV tools and products.
Profile:
Essential
· Minimum of an undergraduate degree, with a major in real estate, finance, economics, statistics, or mathematics.
· Two to three years' work experience in a related position with a strong preference for existing knowledge of the non-listed real estate and/or private markets investment industry.
· Excellent communication skills, both in written and oral English (working language at ANREV).
· Experience of analysing large datasets, writing research reports and articles, as well as preparing and delivering presentations.
· Strong analytical skills using Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Good working knowledge of other applications such as Tableau, Power BI and an understanding of database structures and languages such as Python, SQL and R would be beneficial.
· Proficient in English, knowledge in an Asian language (Japanese, Korean) is a plus.
