Role Overview

The Senior Analyst will be responsible for managing and overseeing Nostro reconciliations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal and external standards. While the current environment leverages SmartStream, this role requires adaptability and expertise across reconciliation platforms (e.g., Duco, SmartStream, Intellimatch, or similar). Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), the individual will drive issue resolution, strengthen controls, and support transformation initiatives within the reconciliation process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee daily Nostro reconciliations, ensuring breaks are promptly identified, investigated, and resolved.
  • Monitor exception workflows, escalating aged breaks to appropriate stakeholders when necessary.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Treasury, Product Control, IT, and external counterparties to resolve discrepancies.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of reconciliation breaks and implement preventive measures to strengthen controls.
  • Ensure all reconciliations comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
  • Contribute to automation and process optimization initiatives, leveraging reconciliation platforms (SmartStream, Duco, Intellimatch, or equivalent).
  • Participate in system configuration, user acceptance testing (UAT), and deployment of new reconciliation rules.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including SOPs, process maps, and training materials.
  • Coach and mentor junior analysts, providing guidance and knowledge sharing.
  • Support transformation projects, including system migrations, regulatory reporting enhancements, and process re-engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
  • At least 3-6 years of experience in Nostro or cash reconciliation within financial services.
  • Hands-on expertise with reconciliation tools such as SmartStream, Duco, Intellimatch, or equivalent.
  • Excellent understanding of Nostro accounts, settlements, and cash management workflows.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis).
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends and root causes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across Operations, Finance, and Technology teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and control frameworks (e.g., SOX, Basel standards, local regulatory requirements) is good to have.
