[What you will be working on]

  • Perform metadata management using open-source tools such as MARCedit, OpenRefine as well as Excel and other tools, combined with scripting, to ensure cataloguing standards are adhered to and discovery is optimised.
  • Contribute to AI and machine learning initiatives to improve metadata and enhance processes. including use cases, requirements and data preparation.
  • Provide support to review discovery websites & services for effectiveness and assist in the development and maintenance of existing and new discovery services.
  • Analyse information requirements relating to digital library services and assist with documentation of specifications to meet those needs.

[What we are looking for]

  • Able to read and write in English and one mother tongue language (Chinese or Malay or Tamil).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages. Python is preferred.
  • Strong numerical ability and interest working with data is essential.
  • Knowledge of natural language processing and machine learning techniques.
  • Knowledge of cataloguing and metadata standards including MARC and Dublin Core, and data interchange formats such as XML and JSON would be advantageous.
