Primary Objectives
As a Vice-Principal, you will be a key member of the school's management team, working closely with the Principal in establishing a culture of holistic care and providing positive learning experience for the students and fostering a culture of learning and teaching, collaboration and innovation among your staff.
Job Responsibilities
Curriculum and Instructional Excellence
- Lead in the planning, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all educational programmes of the school. This includes school-based curriculum, syllabus construction and patterns of assessment, and provision of teaching aids to meet the needs of the different student profile.
- Lead in the implementation of innovative pedagogical and assessment methods to enhance students' learning.
Holistic Student Care
- Lead in managing the systems and processes to ensure that the individual needs of the students are carefully evaluated and appropriate programmes are selected for the holistic development of the students.
- Co-lead in the creation and development of a safe and conducive learning environment
Quality Care
- Co-lead in formulating school's professional training and development priorities and plans in alignment with wider SPED sector vision and AWWA's overall staff training and development programmes.
- Lead in the development, implementation and evaluation of school-wide professional training and development framework.
- Evaluate Key Personnel development and performance and co-conduct performance counselling when necessary.
- Supervise and evaluate school staff in relation to the teaching and learning programmes and management of students.
- Provide feedback, mentoring and coaching and direction to the staff to enhance their overall effectiveness.
- Work with Key Personnel and Reporting Officers in implementation of performance management structures and processes and employee rewards processes for the professional development and growth of all staff.
Partnerships and stakeholder engagement
- Lead in managing systems and processes to equip and enable parents/caregivers to reinforce teaching and learning at home and in the community.
- Build close working relationship with the parents of students to enhance the overall effectiveness of the educational programmes.
- Co-lead in forging strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders – community, parents, SMC, alumni commercial partners, mainstream school partners, families/caregivers, etc.) to enhance the positive learning experience for the students.
Organisational Management and Development
- Co-lead in the implementation and management of an effective organization and administrative system for controlling, administering, deploying and monitoring of financial and manpower resources of the school.
Other areas
- Manage day-to-day administration of the school.
- Lead in the preparation of budgets for the school and guide Key Personnel in planning and monitoring department and unit budget.
- Undertake any other relevant duties as and when assigned by the Principal, AWWA CEO/COO or SMC.
Job Requirements:
- Diploma in Special Needs (DISE) and Degree in Special Education
- At least 10 years of general management experience with a minimum of 5 years in the senior management or leadership position
- Prior experience working with persons with autism will be an added advantage
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical and leadership skills
- A strong passion, commitment and willingness to go the extra mile
- A dynamic and highly driven individual with strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
