Nursing Aide

A nursing aide is a member of team led by a duty Staff Nurse to provide nursing care for the residents in the Home and to attend to their daily nursing and hygiene needs and medication. As a team member, the nursing aide is responsible to:
Assist in maintaining a high standard of residents' care under the supervision of the Staff Nurse.
Perform nursing procedures such as instillation of eye/ear drops, application of cream, wound dressing, etc.
Assist in the serving of medicine under the supervision of a duty Staff Nurse.
Conduct physical examination and checking of vital signs of residents and to report to the Staff Nurse on any abnormalities.
Be able to independently assess situations, administer first aid, and evaluate residents' conditions and make recommendation to refer residents for urgent teatment at hospitals and polyclinics in an emergency.
Keep abreast with current medical and nursing practice.
Accompany residents to hospitals and Polyclinics for follow up appointment and outings.
Assist in the serving of meals and drinks during mealtime.
Assist in the admission and orientation of new residents.
Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Head of Nursing Dept and the Duty Officer.
