Singapore Solis Marine Consultants Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

As a Marine Surveyor/ Consultant (Singapore), you will deliver marine surveying and consultancy services to clients worldwide, including P&I and H&M insurers, brokers, lawyers, shipowners, and other clients as directed.

Primarily based in Singapore, you will be an integral part of the Solis Marine team in Singapore, reporting directly to the regional General Manager. You will also be a member of the global shipping team, providing support to colleagues in other geographical regions.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • The role is wide-ranging and leans on your expertise and experience in the field of marine operations, including:
  • Investigating navigation incidents, cargo damage and other related incidents
  • Performing surveys onboard vessels, which will require international travel and visits to ship-repair yards and other port facilities.
  • Offering comprehensive loss prevention support to various stakeholders in the maritime industry
  • Supporting the Solis Marine team with marine warranty surveys to verify compliance with approved plans and procedures, which will require both regional and international travel.
  • Attending salvage and wreck removal operations for monitoring purposes
  • Being proactive in marketing, developing the business and nurturing and maintaining client relationships
  • Hold a valid Seafarers medical certificate (UK Equivalent)
  • You must have the physical ability to safely carry out shipboard inspections on vessels both at anchor and in shipyards and other industrial facilities worldwide, which will require fitness levels to allow safe access in and out of cargo hold, cargo and ballast tanks and other enclosed spaces.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours during attendance on site to meet clients' operational requirements.
Qualifications
  • A higher diploma or degree in maritime studies or nautical sciences.
  • STCW AII/2 certificate of competency (chief officer or master)
  • Other related qualification or similar practical work experience.
  • Hold a valid medical certificate or seafarers medical (UK equivalent).
  • You must have the physical ability and fitness levels to safely carry out the required surveys onboard vessels either at anchor or alongside in port facilities or offshore facilities and shipyards.
Experience
  • You will have seagoing experience in a management position onboard vessels of over 3000 GT, have a sound working knowledge and practical experience with shipboard operations and shipboard navigation systems including ECDIS. A good understanding of cargo stowage and cargo securing arrangements would be advantageous.
  • In addition, a good understanding of the maritime industry, in particular the commercial aspects of shipboard operations and maintenance, and preferably experience in shore-based role (DPA/HSE/technical management).
