About the Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will collaborate with a diverse team of software engineers, game developers, designers, and product managers to design and build the backend application layer—supporting both Web2 systems and Web3 integrations—that powers our ecosystem.

• Empowering MON Games: Building a robust backend to power and enhance the MON gaming experience.
• Bridging Web2 and Web3: Pioneering the integration of traditional games into the blockchain realm with innovative backend solutions.
• Securing Digital Assets: Implementing top-tier security measures to protect and manage digital assets securely.

What You Will Do

• Participate in and contribute/lead technical design and discussions with peers and stakeholders to decide the best technical approaches to product problems.
• Write and test high-quality product or system development code, utilizing your expertise in Java (Spring Boot) and familiarity with JavaScript/ TypeScript (NestJS).
• Participate in code reviews and provide valuable feedback to ensure quality and outcomes, with a keen eye on performance optimization and backend security best practice
• Set up and maintain the cloud infrastructure for your product and tools, using AWS services like EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, and ECS.
• Contribute to new and existing documentation and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve them by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on operations and quality. Use JIRA/ Confluence for issue tracking and project documentation.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, providing guidance, knowledge sharing, and feedback to help them develop their technical and professional skills.

Requirements

• Experience and Expertise: At least 2 years of experience in a software engineering role, within a product or engineering-led team. Strong ability in Java (Spring Boot) for backend services and a good grasp of JavaScript/ TypeScript using NestJS.
• Database Technologies: Expertise in SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL) and proficiency in NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) for effective data handling and caching mechanisms.
• Cloud Infrastructure and Dev Ops Skills:Extensive experience with AWS, proficiency in Docker for containerisation, and advanced knowledge in CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Testing and Quality Assurance: Deep experience with Java testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito, and knowledge of integration testing frameworks.
• Security and Performance: Strong understanding of backend security protocols, OAuth, and security best practices. Skills in backend performance tuning to handle scalability issues efficiently.
• Blockchain Technologies: Familiarity with Solidity, understanding of ImmutableX, and knowledge of libraries like or is advantageous.
• Professional Skills: Strong ability to break down business requirements into technical requirements and communicate technical trade-offs.
