1.0 Job Purpose

Reporting to the Executive Director and Family Support Services (FSS) Manager, the Social Worker provide interventions and programmes, perform community development work. He/she conducts casework and group work as well as implement and evaluate community development activities/programmes to address service gaps in the community.

2.0 Key Responsibilities

2.1 Programme Management

· Develop programmes using evidence-based framework.

· Deliver programmes based on the needs of clients, families, including and not limited to:

a. Outreach for children & youth families and community at Jalan Kukoh.

b. Implementation/design of mental wellness programme for youth and children (e.g., lesson planning).

c. Distribution of food ration and befriending at Jalan Kukoh/Chinatown community.

· Conduct needs assessment to identify service gaps to support development/revision of programmes based on client contemporary needs.

· Provide programme updates to supervisor (e.g., monthly and quarterly reports).

· Identify areas of improvements in programmes through after-action review.

· Implement quality control and compliance procedures in programme administration.

· Maintain records and proper documentation on progress of clients/families.

· Develop information/psychoeducation materials for distribution to clients and volunteers.

· Measure and evaluate effectiveness of programmes (impact measurement).

· Administer basic case management for the needy in the community e.g., generate referral letter and partake in case conferences in supporting for category 3 & 4 cases with KA FSC as well as various community partners.

· Administer basic volunteer management and coordinate with clients on programmes/workshop.

2.2 Provide case management interventions

· Conduct casework interventions and facilitate delivery of children & youth group work and support groups.

· Implement social work theories/frameworks and approaches for casework counselling and group work.

· Maintain basic casework documentation e.g., intervention strategies.

· Administer support for crisis management cases through defined operating procedures and supervision.

· Conduct case intake, generating referral letter, engage and listen empathetically to help seekers.

2.3 Perform community development work

· Assess needs of children and youths based on information and feedback collated from multiple stakeholders.

· Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve common goals.

· Manage volunteers in the delivery of programmes and interventions

2.4 Conduct community outreach

· Implement the organisation's community outreach plans.

· Conduct needs assessment together with the team to understand the trend and needs in the community.

· Support the spectrum of Yong En current outreach programmes/workshops in the community.

2.5 Manage manpower resources

· Coordinate/update the volunteer manpower roster for programmes.

· Guide and support volunteers in executing programme activities.

· Provision of basic orientation/training for volunteers.

2.6 Build stakeholder relationships

· Coordinate with other organisations/ external partners for the execution of programmes.

· Manage communications and feedback from stakeholders.

· Conduct outreach activities to connect/collaborate with community stakeholders/ partners.

2.7 Others

· Attending public enquiries.

· Maintain proper records and generate monthly reports.

· Undertake any other projects or duties assigned.

3.0 Requirements for the position:

  • Minimum Degree in Social Work with at least 5 years of relevant experience working with children & families
  • Resourceful, proactive, responsible, client-centric with strong problem-solving skills
  • High integrity, resilient, passionate about working with women and children support group
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to converse in English, Mandarin and/or Malay (in order to handle queries and concerns from English, Mandarin and/or Malay speaking clients)
  • Proficiency in MS Excel to generate report and report writing.
