Purpose of the Job:

Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards, customer specifications, and safety regulations while providing technical leadership, procedural oversight, and training to X-ray Level I and II in radiographic testing.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  1. Process Compliance and Certification


• Ensure strict adherence to NADCAP requirements and internal quality standards for X-ray operations.


• Facilitate 3rd party audits and conduct site-level self-audits to verify compliance and identify improvement opportunities.

  1. Xray Procedure Development and Oversight


• Develop, review, and maintain site-specific X-ray procedures and work instructions in accordance with NAS410, ASTM E1742, NADCAP and regulatory standards.


• Serve as the designated Level III Inspector to qualify, approve, and standardize all radiographic techniques and procedures.


• Innovate and standardize X-ray techniques to improve testing effectiveness, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.


• Support the development and implementation of digital radiography (DR) techniques and associated procedures.

  1. Xray Inspection and Technical Support


• Provide hands-on assistance and technical guidance to Xray inspectors on production parts as required.


• Lead rejection analysis investigations and contribute to quality improvement initiatives related to Xray findings.


• Provide expert technical support to production and quality engineering teams.


• Mentor, train, and certify X-ray Level I and Level II in radiographic testing per NAS410, ASTM E1742 requirements.


• Provide technical support and problem-solving expertise during inspections and audits.


• Lead internal and external quality audits focused on X-ray activities.

  1. Training and Certification Management


• Define and manage the X-ray inspection role within the Quality Management System (QMS).


• Develop and administer X-ray inspector training and cross-training programs.


• Conduct qualification examinations and certify X-ray inspectors as per NAS410 and ASTM E1742 guidelines.


• Maintain and update qualification records, certifications, proficiency exams, and experience documentation for all X-ray inspectors.


• Continuously evaluate X-ray inspector performance and conduct periodic audits to ensure ongoing compliance.

  1. Quality, Safety, and Additional Duties


• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies specific to X-ray operations and radiation safety.


• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives for X-ray related quality and safety issues.


• Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.

Requirement

  • Certified X-ray Level III with recognized accreditation under NAS410 and ASTM E1742.
  • Minimum 5 years of X-ray experience, including at least 2 years as a Level III in aerospace radiographic testing.
  • Proven experience in aerospace radiographic testing, including film and digital X-ray techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of NADCAP requirements and experience supporting audits.
  • Experience developing and maintaining X-ray procedures and work instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training programs for X-ray inspector.
  • Proficient in technical writing, quality documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with aerospace Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Experience with digital radiography (DR) systems and image analysis software used in aerospace.
  • Basic understanding of Computed Tomography (CT) with the ability to learn and develop related systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication skills.
