Health, Safety and Environment Engineer

DESCRIPTION

Actively promotes health, safety and environmental awareness and applies technical expertise in the design, implementation and management of health, safety and environmental engineering controls within the site(s). Provides technical support cross-functionally to ensure compliance with Cummins internal requirements, applicable health, safety and environmental regulations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Actively demonstrates safety awareness and promotes a positive health, safety and environmental culture coaching others to do the same.
• Ensures employees are consulted and given the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures.
• Works cross-functionally, providing technical expertise, to improve hazard prevention and risk control measures, non-conformities, corrective and preventive actions, driving continual improvement within the site(s).
• Contributes to daily health, safety and environmental operations within the site(s) providing support to solve complex technical issues.
• Leads hazard identification, environmental aspect identification and risk assessment programs to identify risk improvement opportunities and gaps in health, safety and environmental compliance obligations.
• Drives targets and objectives for the design, implementation and maintenance of complex hazard prevention and control systems to reduce or eliminate potential risk.
• Develops and leads training, skills development and internal communications related to hazard prevention and control for employees within the site(s).
• Leads development of technical content ensuring it is up to date, controlled and available while adhering to data privacy regulations.
• Evaluates and interprets site health, safety and environmental data, legal compliance findings, and internal and external audit results to develop improvement plans using a risk-based, data driven approach. Contributes to site(s) Health, Safety,
• Environmental Management Systems review annually in conformance with Cummins internal requirements. Participates in site audit preparation and formal audit processes.
• Coaches and develops cross-functional teams and/or direct reports based on stakeholder feedback, and observations.
• Actively seeks opportunities for self-development through professional health, safety and environmental organizations, as a champion of emerging trends.

• Management of Health, Safety and Environmental Regulatory Compliance - Identifies, interprets and manages legal and other requirements by implementing controls, monitoring and reporting on operational performance to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental related regulations and standards.
• Measurement and Evaluation of Health, Safety and Environment Performance - Collects and analyzes data by creating key performance indicators to evaluate performance trends, deliver improvement goals and objectives, inform strategy and protect employees and the environment.
• Risk Assessment - Evaluates hazards within the work environment by applying hazard identification and risk assessment techniques to analyze and prioritize risk, enabling a selection of control measures that reduce risk as low as reasonably practicable.
• Training Delivery - Instructs learners in a manner that engages and adjusts to individual and group needs resulting in knowledge, skills and abilities that can be applied on the job.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

• College, university, or equivalent degree required. Health, Safety and/or Environmental degree preferred. Professional certification in HSE-related field preferred.

Experience:

• Intermediate level of experience required, including experience in application of Industrial Safety standards and implementation of risk controls.
• Minimal management experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Singapore Registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer

• NEBOSH International General Certificate.

• SCDF – Fire Safety Manager Course FSM Registration

• Environment 14001 , Health and Safety 45001 Internal Auditor knowledge

• ISO 50001 Awareness & Internal Auditor Training

• Hazardous Material Mitigation Training from SCDF, HAZMAT

• Fire Watch Course from SAKRA Emergency Response Brigade

• Basic Offshore Safety & Emergency Training from CONSIST, BOSET

• HAZMAT Management Course
