The Minimum Viable Product Studio (MVP Studio) of NUS Enterprise, Technology Transfer and Innovation, supports NUS startups and research groups in their prototyping journey by providing industry know-how and technical guidance in the productization of intellectual property. We are seeking an experienced Bioengineer with expertise in product development, synthesis, and commercialization process, to join our team as a Master Engineer (Bioengineering).

As a Master Engineer (Bioengineering), you will guide NUS startups through product concept development, material optimization, and product-to-market process. You will support the prototyping phase of NUS startups and collaborate closely with internal cross-functional teams and external vendors to deliver robust functional prototypes.

Prototype Design & Development

  • Able to translate lab research into viable and scalable prototypes.
  • Provide expertise in bioengineering synthesis, product concept development, and material optimization.
  • Assist in prototype testing, validation, and iteration to improve functionality and feasibility.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability and regulatory compliance.

Technical Advisor to NUS Startups

  • Support interdisciplinary teams in areas such as biomaterials, synthetic biology, biomedical devices, and bioprocess engineering.
  • Identify challenges in scaling and propose solutions for commercial readiness.
  • Provide technical guidance and design expertise throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal team members, startups, NUS faculty members.
  • Communicate technical concepts and solutions to non-technical team members and stakeholders.

Vendor Management

  • Identify and establish relationships with key vendors and suppliers for bioengineering-related materials and equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure delivery timelines and quality standards are met.

Requirements

  • At least Master's degree in Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong research background and proven industrial experience in bioengineering R&D, product development, or commercialization.
  • Good knowledge in synthesis techniques, biomanufacturing, and engineering principles.
  • Proven track record of assisting research projects in transitioning from the lab to market.
  • Familiarity with regulatory pathways, including FDA, ISO, and GMP compliance.
  • Proven team manager with excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor and guide startup teams.
