A nursing aide is a member of team led by a duty Staff Nurse to provide nursing care for the residents in the Home and to attend to their daily nursing and hygiene needs and medication. As a team member, the Nursing Aide in Banyan Home is responsible to:

  1. Assist in maintaining high standard of residents' care under the supervision of the Staff Nurse
  2. Perform nursing procedures such as instillation of eye/ear drops, application of cream, wound dressing, etc
  3. Assist in serving medicine under the supervision of the duty Staff Nurse
  4. Conduct physical examination and checking of vital signs of residents; and to report to the Staff Nurse on any abnormalities
  5. Be able to independently assess situations, administer first aid, and evaluate residents' conditions and make recommendations to refer residents for urgent treatment at hospitals and polyclinics, in an emergency
  6. Keep abreast with current medical and nursing practice
  7. Accompany residents to hospitals and Polyclinics for follow up appointments and outings
  8. Assist in the serving of meals and drinks during mealtime
  9. Assist in the admission and orientation of new residents
  10. Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Head of Nursing Dept and the Duty Officer
