NTU Main Campus Singapore Nanyang Technological University Singapore Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

Within NIE, the Policy, Curriculum & Leadership (PCL) Department leads in educational leadership, policy, and curriculum studies, impacting both theory and practice. Our belief is that education improves lives, so we focus on developing wisdom in policy-making, nurturing discernment in curriculum, and amplifying foresight in leadership. We address complex educational challenges while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration to drive research, teaching, and societal impact both locally and globally.

The PCL Department invites qualified candidates who share our mission to apply for the Assistant Professor/Associate Professor (tenure-track) position in Educational Policy/Curriculum. This position requires a deep understanding of educational policy and curriculum. Educational policymaking and curriculum studies are dynamic fields that raise and attempt to answer questions about the purposes of education, the objectives (both societal and individual) that it is designed to attain, the methods for attaining them and the tools for measuring success. Additionally, questions relating to educational policy and curriculum are essential for navigating the complexities of today's educational landscape.

Requirements

  • A PhD in educational policy/curriculum or related fields (such as educational policy analysis, educational reform, comparative education, economics of education, sociology of education, curriculum theory, or curriculum design and evaluation). The ideal candidate will have expertise in key areas of educational policy/curriculum that include the relationship between theory and practice, the wider social context within which policy and curriculum decision-making and implementation occur, and the culture within which schools are located. (Applicants who are nearing completion of their doctoral studies will be considered but PhD must be in hand for the appointment);

  • A strong research record in educational policy/curriculum, demonstrated by publications in high-ranking journals and presses, or, for early career scholars, a promising research and publication trajectory;

  • A good teaching record with a positive impact on student learning across all levels, including both graduate and undergraduate courses, as well as in pre-service and in-service teacher training programmes;

  • A proven record of service and a passion for making a positive impact in the field of education;

  • Familiarity with the Singapore education system would be highly advantageous; and

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and technology skills, combined with a commitment to academic research, teaching excellence, and collegiality.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Contribute to teaching and course development at the pre-service, in-service, undergraduate, and graduate levels;

  • Provide individualized supervision to student teachers during their teaching practice, including classroom observations and feedback;

  • Guide and supervise higher degree students in designing, conducting, and completing their research studies or projects;

  • Plan, develop, and implement strategies for professional development;

  • Develop a robust research agenda, secure competitive research grants, and publish research in reputable journals or other outlets customary in the field of educational policy/curriculum;

  • Undertake administrative and/or leadership roles and contribute to service-related activities at the department or institution level;

  • Develop and maintain strong professional networks with local and international researchers and practitioners in educational policy/curriculum; and

  • Share teaching or research expertise with NIE colleagues through various learning and sharing platforms.

In addition, an Associate Professor (tenure-track) will be expected to:

  • Lead key areas of research in educational policy/curriculum within the department;

  • Mentor faculty members in the department;

  • Supervise and provide mentorship to graduate students pursuing PhD and/or EdD degrees;

  • Serve in NIE / NTU committees

Application

Please submit your application together with the following to us:

  • A cover letter;

  • A Curriculum Vitae that includes work experience, qualifications, teaching experience, research accomplishments, full publication list (in APA format), and service records;

  • A statement of research interests (maximum 2 pages);

  • A statement of teaching philosophy and experience, evidence of teaching excellence, and student feedback on teaching (maximum 2 pages);

  • Two sample publications; and

  • Names, addresses, and email addresses of three academic referees.

Shortlisted candidates will participate in an online interview. Those selected for the next stage will be invited to visit the NIE campus. During this visit, they will be required to deliver a job talk outlining their research and teaching interests, and to conduct a sample lesson in their area of expertise for our students in NIE.

Closing Date

The closing date for applications is 5 January 2026 or until the position is filled.
