JOB DESCRIPTION

The Swim Coordinator/Coach is responsible for the expert planning, execution, and supervision of the daily operations of the after-school swimming program, a key component of the school's Co-Curricular Activities (CCA). This role ensures the delivery of a high-quality aquatic experience tailored to a range of student abilities, from beginners in learn-to-swim classes to advanced swimmers focusing on stroke development. In addition, the Swim Coordinator will provide professional support to Physical and Health Education (PHE) teachers during the delivery of curriculum-based aquatics lessons.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Employing effective pedagogy that enables children to become successful and self-regulated learners who achieve personal excellence by:

Developing and implementing a comprehensive training program that aligns with the skill levels and goals of individual swimmersPlanning and organising practice sessions, including drills, workouts, and skill-building exercisesCoach swim squads and/or learn-to swim programme that may require being present in the water with the learners as instruction may dictateProvide hands-on instruction and feedback on swimming techniquesLead a team of after school swim coaches and foster a collaborative team environmentMaintain open and effective communication with swimmers, parents, and other coaching staffA commitment to training during school holidays when necessaryAssist swim teachers during PHE swim lessons Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in swimming coachingHandle administrative duties related to the swim program, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordination of eventsPrepare and maintain appropriate reports; ensure administration logs and checks are completed and current along with the Director of EOTCPrepare the pool ahead of sessions to ensure safe, clean and relevant resources are available and in good condition; store equipment and resources to keep the area tidy and safeFollow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilitiesAssist the Aquatic Director in keeping aquatic resources up to date and in good conditionContribute towards the whole-school team spirit by promoting the philosophy and policies of Nexus International SchoolMaintain constant poolside surveillance of students; act immediately and appropriately to secure safety in the event of emergency; provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical serviceInvolvement in whole school events and activities as required.To perform any other duties as assigned by the management, stakeholders and line manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

A relevant degree (preferred)NROC licenceStrong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead a team and engage positively with young learnersExperience in an international school environment (preferred)Relevant curriculum and coaching experienceMinimum FINA Level 2 Coach/UKCC Level 2/ASCA Level 2 certified, AUS Swim (or International equivalent) with a minimum of 2 year coaching experience and prior experience in squad planning ideally for competitive level. Basic knowledge of google suite platforms, ACTIVE Hy-Tek' Swim Software and Team Unify.
