The business spans both scientific R&D and commercial operations, with continued momentum and plans for further scale — including the potential listing of one of their business units. To support this growth, they are looking to hire a Group Financial Controller — a hands-on finance leader with the capability and ambition to take over as Group CFO in the future.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a strategic finance leadership role in a high-growth, innovation-led environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the finance function across a complex and fast-evolving group structure, covering both R&D and commercial units
- Manage full sets of accounts, budgeting, reporting, and group-level P&L
- Provide strategic insight into business structuring, tax planning, grant utilisation, and capital allocation to support both short- and long-term growth
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership on funding activities and potential capital market readiness (including IPO planning or listing readiness for specific business units)
- Maintain internal controls, oversee compliance, and manage external relationships with auditors, regulators, and other authorities
- Play a hands-on role in operational finance, while building toward strategic leadership
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent)
- At least 8 years of finance experience, including strong accounting and audit foundation (Big 4 trained preferred), and operational roles in commercial environments
- Experience in listed companies or IPO/capital markets preparation is a strong advantage
- Deep understanding of how finance supports both scientific R&D and commercial business units
- Comfortable building financial structures that enable growth — from tax strategy to grant optimisation
- Independent, resourceful, and ready to roll up your sleeves; not just a finance operator, but a commercial partner to the business
