Our client is seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator to join their team

What you'll be doing?

• Cloud Infrastructure Management - Manage Windows Servers (Wintel) in AWS, overseeing deployment, configuration, and ongoing management of cloud-based virtual machines and instances for optimal performance

• Database Development - Design, develop, and maintain sophisticated SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers that support business-critical applications and reporting needs

• Performance Optimization - Optimize database performance through strategic indexing, query tuning, and schema design to ensure efficient data processing and user experience

• Stakeholder Collaboration - Work closely with data analysts, software developers, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet organizational objectives

• ETL Process Development - Develop robust ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources, ensuring seamless data integration across systems

• Data Quality Assurance - Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security across all database systems through comprehensive monitoring and validation practices

• Documentation Management - Create and maintain detailed documentation related to database structures, processes, and standards to support team knowledge sharing

• Technical Support - Troubleshoot and resolve complex database-related issues while providing ongoing support to ensure system reliability

• Cloud Migration Leadership - Design and execute large-scale cloud migration projects for data warehousing and data lake house initiatives

• Data Pipeline Engineering - Develop and optimize ETL/ELT workflows to ingest, process, and transform large datasets efficiently

• Analytics Automation - Drive analytics teams to identify automation opportunities for reporting while providing meaningful data insights

• Cloud Solutions Deployment - Deploy and manage data solutions on cloud platforms using services like AWS S3, Databricks, and other modern data technologies

• Performance Enhancement - Improve query performance, reduce latency, and enhance system reliability through continuous optimization

• DevOps Integration - Implement automation for data workflows and integrate with CI/CD processes to streamline deployment and maintenance

Who are they looking for?

• Educational Foundation - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, providing the technical foundation for complex database and data engineering work

• Database Administration Experience - Minimum of 5 years' experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator, bringing proven expertise in enterprise database management

• SQL Server Expertise - Professional experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019, or newer versions, demonstrating current technical knowledge

• High Availability Knowledge - Strong understanding of SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery technologies to ensure business continuity

• Performance Tuning Skills - Solid expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and index strategies that maximize database efficiency

• Cloud Database Experience - Hands-on experience with Azure SQL databases and patch/update procedures, showing adaptability to cloud environments

• Multi-Platform Familiarity - Knowledge of other database platforms such as MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB is advantageous for diverse project requirements

• Scripting Proficiency - Strong skills in T-SQL and PowerShell scripting for maintenance and automation tasks

• Analytical Abilities - Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills across infrastructure layers to resolve complex technical issues

• Communication Skills - Outstanding documentation and communication abilities that enable effective collaboration with technical and business teams

• Professional Certification - Microsoft SQL Server Certification (such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate) is required, demonstrating validated expertise
