Job Description Summary – Assistant Engineer (Machining)

The Assistant Engineer in the Precision Machining Department supports senior engineers and supervisors in ensuring smooth operations of engineering and quality to prepare relevant engineering and quality documents. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of machining principles, and process parameters, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving and production efficiency.

Job Description – Assistant Engineer (Machining Department)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and optimization of machining processes to improve productivity and reduce cycle time.
  • Collaborate with engineers and machinists to troubleshoot issues related to machine performance, tool wear, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Help prepare and review work instructions, process sheets, flow charts, PCP, PFMEA and standard operating procedures (SOPs) with the help of Senior Engineers.
  • Assist in analysing root causes of defects and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing and 5S practices within the machining area.
  • Comply with safety and environmental regulations and promote a culture of safety.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in a machining or manufacturing environment (fresh graduates with internships are welcome).
  • Basic knowledge of CNC machining, cutting tools, and G-code programming is a plus.
  • Familiarity with quality measurement tools (e.g., callipers, micrometres, gauges).
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills (Optional):

  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks or Mastercam).
  • Able to use MS-OFFICE (Excel, word & PowerPoint)
  • Exposure to SAP systems for production tracking.
