We are a reputable construction & fit-out company seeking a Senior Skilled Carpenter to join our team to plan and kick start our carpentry department. The ideal candidate should be a strong leader with solid hands-on carpentry experience, strong technical drawing interpretation skills, and proven ability to deliver high-quality workmanship and installation. Experience with CNC woodworking machines will be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Strong connection with supplier; able to source sustainability and good materials
• Plan and design workshop layouts
• Plan work schedules, and manage resources efficiently.
• Read, interpret, and apply blueprints, drawings, and technical instructions.
• Measure, cut, shape, and assemble timber, plywood, laminates, and other carpentry materials.
• Fabricate, install, and repair woodwork and joinery, including framing, cabinets, walls, planter boxes, seating, displays, and dividers.
• Fit and install hardware such as hinges, locks, and handles.
• Lead, guide, and provide on-the-job training to general workers.
• Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, woodcutting equipment, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and project quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized work environment.
• Collaborate closely with supervisors, project managers, and team members on-site.
• Estimate material requirements for projects and ensure timely ordering and delivery of materials.
• Monitor the use of materials to avoid waste and ensure project cost-effectiveness.
• Troubleshoot and resolve construction-related issues that arise during carpentry work.
• Provide expert advice on materials, finishes, and carpentry techniques that meet the client's needs and expectations.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of professional carpentry experience, with extensive hands-on expertise in diverse woodworking projects.
• Proven ability to lead carpentry projects and manage teams effectively.
• Carpentry certification or equivalent, with strong skills in blueprint reading, safe work practices, material selection, and machine operation.
• Solid knowledge of wood properties, carpentry materials, and joinery techniques.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools, woodworking machinery, and CNC equipment.
• Skilled in interpreting technical drawings and performing precise measurements.
• Strong ability to solve problems and plan efficiently
• Physically fit and capable of handling heavy lifting and extended on-site work.
• Safety-conscious, with BCSS certification considered an advantage.
• Excellent leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Experience in commercial space fit-outs is preferred.
• Experience in interior design is an added advantage.
