Textiles Chemist Job Description:
- Develop and test chemical formulations used in textile processing such as dyeing, printing, finishing, and coating.
- Research and improve fabric treatment methods for color fastness, water repellency, wrinkle resistance, etc.
- Conduct quality control tests on dyes, pigments, and chemicals to ensure consistency and compliance with safety/environmental standards.
- Troubleshoot chemical-related issues in production processes and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with R&D and production teams to implement new chemical technologies and cost-saving methods.
- Maintain accurate documentation of chemical usage, safety data sheets (SDS), and testing results.
- Diploma/Degree in Chemistry, Textile Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Prior experience in textile manufacturing, dyeing, or finishing industry preferred.
- Strong knowledge of textile materials, dyes, pigments, and finishing agents.
- Familiar with laboratory testing instruments and methods (e.g., pH meter, spectrophotometer).
- Detail-oriented, with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of environmental and chemical safety regulations is a plus.
