Supervision of Mechanical Works
- Lead and supervise site execution of mechanical works including installation, assembly, and testing of piping, static and rotating equipment.
- Ensure activities are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Monitor equipment alignment, torqueing, pressure testing, and commissioning preparations.
Team Management
- Supervise teams of mechanical technicians, fitters, and helpers, assigning daily work tasks and responsibilities.
- Ensure productivity targets and quality standards are achieved.
- Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to crew members.
HSE & Quality Compliance
- Enforce strict compliance with HSE rules, including permit-to-work (PTW), lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), confined space entry, and lifting operations.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks, safety briefings, and risk assessments with mechanical crews.
- Ensure all works are performed to project quality standards and hold/witness points are respected.
Planning & Resource Preparation
- Coordinate with Site Manager and Planner to review daily and weekly look-ahead schedules.
- Verify the availability of manpower, tools, lifting equipment, consumables, and materials before starting work.
- Highlight constraints or shortages and propose corrective actions.
Coordination & Interface
- Interface with supervisors of other disciplines (civil, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure smooth workflow and avoid clashes.
- Liaise with QA/QC Inspectors for inspections and approvals during construction activities.
Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Track progress of assigned work and report daily status, issues, and resource utilization to the Mechanical Supervisor or Site Manager.
- Maintain site documentation including work permits, daily activity logs, inspection records, and material consumption reports.
Commissioning & Handover Support
- Support mechanical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Ensure punch list items are closed before handover.
- Participate in final inspections with QA/QC and client representatives.
Special working conditions
- Onshore site visits and extended working hours may be required during critical project phases.
- Must be available for rapid deployment to project sites when operational issues arise.
Physical requirements
- Fit for offshore work and able to meet physical demands and extended standing in field visit conditions.
Education
- Technical diploma, trade certificate, or vocational training in Mechanical Engineering or Fitting.
Specialized knowledge / experience
Mechanical Systems Knowledge
- Strong technical expertise in piping installation, rotating equipment alignment, static equipment assembly, and auxiliary systems.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and OEM manuals.
Supervisory & Leadership Skills
- Proven experience leading crews of technicians and helpers in mechanical construction activities.
- Ability to assign tasks, monitor execution, and enforce productivity and quality.
HSE & Quality Awareness
- Knowledge of ISO HSE) and ISO 9001 (Quality) systems.
- Familiarity with permit-to-work systems, confined space entry, lifting operations, and risk assessments.
Coordination & Communication Skills
- Strong communication skills for interfacing with supervisors of other disciplines and QA/QC inspectors.
- Ability to provide feedback and resolve issues at site level.
Industry Experience
- 7–10 years of experience in mechanical construction, with at least 3–5 years as Foreman in EPC, offshore, or oil & gas projects.
- Familiarity with fabrication yards and offshore installation environments preferred.
Software & Tools
- Basic proficiency in MS Office for daily reporting.
- Familiarity with construction schedules and progress monitoring systems.
Accreditation / certification
Professional Certifications
- NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent mechanical trade certification (preferred).
- OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) training for specific rotating equipment (advantageous).
Safety & Offshore Training
- Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry, Rigging & Slinging, and Permit to Work (PTW) training.
- Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) and lifting operations awareness certification.
Other Relevant Training
- First Aid and Firefighting awareness.
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and incident investigation training (advantageous).
