Purpose of the Job

The primary goal of an Infant Educarer is to provide a loving, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment that promotes the well-being and early learning of infants aged 2 to 18 months. The Infant Educarer plays a critical role in offering nurturing care, supporting infants' emotional and physical needs, and fostering their growth through intentional interactions and early learning experiences.

Job Description

Child Development & Observation:

  • Regularly observe, assess, and document each infant's development and growth.
  • Identify and report any developmental concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Health, Safety & Supervision:

  • Ensure the safety and security of each child through constant supervision, whether in the classroom, play areas, or other parts of the centre.
  • Adhere strictly to health, hygiene, and safety protocolsset by ECDA and the centre.

Routine Care:

  • Carry out all infant care routines in a prompt, hygienic, and respectful manner, such as diapering, feeding (milk and solids), bathing, handwashing, nap time and transitions between activities.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain an up-to-date daily journal for each child, documenting milk feeds, solid food intake, diapering, sleeping patterns, and other care routines.
  • Ensure records are clear, accurate, and relevant to each age group (mobile & non-mobile).

Curriculum & Learning Activities:

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate, engaging learning experiences that encourage exploration and holistic development.
  • Set up safe and stimulating environments that support cognitive, language, physical, and social-emotional growth.

Communication & Teamwork:

  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's routines and development.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure consistent care practices and promote a supportive team environment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Higher Certificate in Infant Care (HCIC) / Advanced Certificate in Early Years (ACEY).
  • With at least 1 year of relevant experience in Infant Care setting.
