Reporting to the Director of Security Architecture & Programs, the Security Architect will be the primary owner and project manager for programs, initiatives, and architecture to protect 8x8's network. Will design and document the overall network protection strategy. Will work closely with 8x8's network operations team to define requirements, select vendors, and implement solutions. Will deliver on high-level goals by choosing the best course of action to achieve them.
As a Security Architect here at 8x8, the security architect will take ownership of the company's security architecture functions working closely with the security engineering team as well as other parts of the enterprise.
**Responsibilities**:
  • Enhances security team accomplishments and competencies by planning the delivery of solutions and answering technical questions.
  • Plans, research, designs and documents security architecture for Security, IT, and Network systems.
  • Develops, reviews, and approves installation requirements for LANs, WANs, VPNs, firewalls, routers, and related network and security devices.
  • Evaluate new and current technologies that can be used to better secure and simplify security requirements.
  • Determines security protocols by evaluating business strategies and requirements.
  • Responds to, and investigates, security incidents and provides thorough post-event analyses.
  • Develops project timelines for current and future projects.
  • Coordinate between several different parts of the enterprise.
  • Reviews system security measures and recommends necessary enhancements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate security measures into overall network design.
  • Provide guidance and education on security best practices.
  • Work closely with the governance, risk, and compliance team to make sure 8x8 is following industry regulations and standards.
  • Provide training to Junior members of the team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
Qualifying Experience and Attributes:
  • Extensive experience in Security Architecture or related field.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frames works

I.E. NIST, ISO 27001, CISA, CIS, etc.

  • Understanding and experience with security technologies

I.E. Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Honeypots, EDR, SEIM, Logging, etc.

  • Strong working knowledge of IT risks, cyber security, and computer operating software.
  • Advanced understanding of security protocols, cryptography, and security.
  • Advanced understanding and experience working with physical and cloud-based security architectures and technologies.
  • Experience implementing multi-factor authentication.
  • Experience implanting PKI solutions.
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience implementing security solutions.
  • Comfortable working on a team.
Preferred Experience and Attributes:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.- Self-motivation to get tasks completed.- Ability to work within a team environment and coordinate as needed inside and outside of the security team.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.-
- Excellent time management and capabilities to prioritize tasks.
