Job Description & Requirements

A carpenter's job scope involves constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures using wood and other materials, including framing, installing cabinets, and following blueprints to ensure projects meet specifications and safety standards

Core Responsibilities:

  • Construction and Installation: Building and installing foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs.

Installing window frames, doors, door frames, and door hardware.

Installing interior and exterior trim.

Constructing and installing building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes.
- Repair and Maintenance: Inspecting and replacing damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.

Performing preventative maintenance on carpentry items.
- Material Handling and Measurement: Measuring, cutting, and shaping wood, plastic, and other materials.

Ensuring accurate measurements and cuts.

Loading and unloading construction materials.
- Blueprint Interpretation and Planning: Reading and interpreting blueprints and building plans.

Following project specifications.

Creating and adjusting project schedules.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and building codes.

Using tools and equipment safely.
- Other Duties: Instructing and directing laborers and other construction helpers.

Installing cabinets, shelving, fitted furniture, drywall, and insulation.

Installing fixtures and fittings such as handles, locks, and hinges.

Troubleshooting construction issues.

Attending site scouts and meetings.Training incoming and junior personnel
