Train Service Controller

Salary:

Basic salary of $2250 to $2600 (subjected to work experiences)

Fixed monthly allowance of $250.

Job Purpose:

Report to the Chief Controller at the Operations Control Centre (OCC). The Train Service Controller (TSC) is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable train operations through real-time monitoring, regulation, and coordination.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control train operations to provide safe, reliable, and efficient services at all times.
  • Regulate and track train movements in accordance with the train timetable.
  • Make logical decisions and cater necessary service adjustment to meet passenger needs.
  • Coordinate and deploy Operations and Maintenance staff to respond promptly and safely to faults or unexpected events.
  • Oversee daily station openings and ensure all equipment is in working order before revenue service begins.
  • Assist the Chief Controller in disseminating information to passengers during rail incidents at the stations
  • Notify the relevant maintenance staff of equipment faults so that recovery actions can be carried out.
  • Manage and control all work possessions and track access in line with established rules and procedures.
    Assist premise owners by facilitating authorised access to premises for external personnel (e.g. contractors).

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Able to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Familiarity with an Operations Control Room environment is an advantage.
  • This is a non-executive position.
  • Proficient in operating computer-based control systems.
  • Able to work independently as well as effectively within a diverse team.
  • Positive, attentive, meticulous, and open-minded.
  • Highly motivated, able to perform under pressure, and resilient in stressful situations.
  • Capable of strategic thinking, systematic analysis, and making safe, sound decisions.
    Able to remain calm and act quickly during emergencies.
