The Technology team powers everything the business does. The team is building a reliable, scalable platform for the company's products and services. The team includes Backend, Frontend, Mobile, AI, and QA engineers working across regions, alongside Platform, Security & IT Operations teams. Together, they collaborate closely with Data and Product teams to continuously evolve and scale the products.

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Junior Backend Software Engineer to join our Engineering team to work on a large scale, complex system that brings innovation to healthcare. You will be working on modern technology stack and in a cross-functional environment that promotes collaboration within/across teams and managing both internal/external stakeholders.

As a Backend Software Engineer, you will contribute to all aspects of the software development life cycle — architecture, design, implementation, code reviews, testing, and production on-call support. The ideal candidate has strong ownership, good communication skills, and enjoys working in highly collaborative and fast paced environments.

This role reports directly to our Principal Engineer in Singapore and will work closely with our Engineering Managers in Vietnam.

A summary of the key responsibilities are as follows:

• Collaborate with team members to define, design, and ship new features.
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Identify and correct bottlenecks.
• Help maintain code quality, organisation, and automatization.
• Develop applications for time-sensitive projects while considering business/system requirements.
• Assist with estimating work efforts required for each phase of a project.
• Identify and raise technical risks.
• Keep up-to-date with latest industry and technology trends.
• Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.

• 0-2 years of professional software development experience.

• Proficiency in Java or at least one language primarily used for server-side development.

• Excellent problem solving and debugging skills.
• Strong understanding of software development principles, data structures, and algorithms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skill in English language

Preferred Qualifications (not required, but will make you stand out from the crowd):

• Proficiency with Spring Boot.
• Proficiency in programming languages in addition to Java e.g. TypeScript, JavaScript, Python.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies e.g. Docker, Kubernetes
• Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as FHIR, HL7
