To effectively manage cases receiving foster care services and to provide social workers with professional supervision, in the area of case management and group work management
FUNCTIONAL
- To conduct regular case discussion with social workers and supervise their case management
- Conduct in-depth assessment and prepare Foster Parent Assessment Report (FAR), and present findings at the FAR Panel and follow up on decisions and recommendations.
- Conduct all the necessary statutory visits including announced and unannounced home visits to ensure that the placement is able to safeguard and promote child's safety, stability and wellbeing
- Organise and participate in inter-agency efforts in support the welfare and development of the foster child/CYP
- Provide a 24hour hotline for foster parents per duty schedule and ensure that the team follows up on outcomes
- Supervise and support foster placement so as to prevent breakdowns in foster child's existing care arrangements
- Spearhead in case movement through regular team meetings, Monthly BT case review sessions, MSF case reviews, COF, CART reviews etc.
- Identify at-risk situations, and develop strategies and intervention plan to address child safety issues, and wellbeing.
- Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of case management and other support programme and activities extended to foster families.
- Participates in road shows and other community outreach events as and when necessary.
- To meet regularly with Head of Fostering to assess case progress and programme outcome/effectiveness
- Ensure/ support/ monitor all BT SOPs and participate in audit processes
- To support/ conduct research related to practice
MANAGERIAL
- To provide guidance and supervision for social workers and case workers, especially for practice issues
- To monitor caseloads and performance of social workers
- Lead/facilitate meetings and case conferences
- Ensure that all social workers submit accurate information on the cases and that reports are submitted punctually to BT and other governing bodies such as MSF.
- To look into best practices and to implement best practices within the department
- Liaison with key stakeholders such as MSF, SSI or other relevant organizations
- To cover for Head/Fostering Services whenever necessary
ORGANIZATIONAL
- To participate actively in all fundraising activities as well as any other commitments that Boys' Town undertakes.
- To work in close collaboration with other staff, department and components of Boys' Town.
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
- Executive functioning skills – planning, coordinating, organizing , implementing and evaluating
- Administrative – documentation, filing, report writing
- Social Work, Supervisory and Counseling skills – assessment and case management
- Understanding the impact of fostering on children/CYP and able to preempt and address the developmental needs of children/CYP.
- Mentoring and Coaching Skills
Average Qualifications & years of relevant experience
- At least 5 years relevant experience, with 2 years in a supervisory position
- Experience in working with children/CYP and their families
- Bachelor of Social Work / Masters in Social Work
