Objective: -

Ensure high availability and Performance of Onboard IT Systems. Maintain 99% uptime for critical onboard IT infrastructure and services. Proactively monitor and resolve system performance issues to prevent downtime. Strengthen Vessel IT Security and Compliance. Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures across all vessels.

Key Responsibilities: -

1. Onboard IT Vessels Operation:

Manage and maintain all vessel-based IT infrastructure, including servers, communication systems, workstations, and network equipment. Conduct routine checks and health monitoring of onboard systems to ensure consistent uptime and performance. Ensure real-time system alerts, antivirus definitions, patching, and backups are functioning correctly.

2. Onsite Technical Support & Collaboration:

Provide on-site IT support to vessel crew, resolving technical issues and minimizing disruption to operations. Act as the primary contact between vessel personnel, the remote IT support team, operations department, and third-party service providers

3. Cybersecurity & Compliance:

Implement IT security controls onboard, including endpoint protection, access control, and secure configurations. Enforce compliance with maritime industry IT regulations, internal cybersecurity policies, and company data protection standards. Perform periodic security checks and support external/internal audit readiness.

4. Project Implementation:

Lead onboard IT project rollouts such as operating system upgrades, license renewals, antivirus deployments, and communication system enhancements. Draft and propose technical documentation, budgeting estimates, and implementation schedules for new

IT initiatives.

5. Asset & Inventory Management:

Maintain and update the IT inventory for each assigned vessel. Conduct quarterly physical audits and ensure accurate asset records in the asset management system. Track software licenses, expiration dates, warranty coverage, and support agreements.

6. Budgeting & Vendor Coordination:

Support annual budget forecasting for vessel IT operations and new projects. Assist with cost analysis and identify savings opportunities related to hardware, software, or support models. Coordinate with vendors for system maintenance, new installations, or incident resolution.

7. Documentation & SOPs:

Maintain up-to-date IT documentation for all onboard systems and networks. Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), user guides, and troubleshooting steps for the vessel crew.

8. Training & Knowledge Transfer:

Provide basic IT awareness training to crew members where necessary. Facilitate smooth knowledge handovers between crew rotations and ensure system continuity.

9. IT Infrastructure Oversight for Office:

Oversee and support the health and scalability of core IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage (e.g., Synology), and cloud environments. Ensure systems are resilient, secure, and aligned with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

10. Level 3 Technical Escalation Support for Office:

Act as the highest-level technical escalation point for complex system or infrastructure issues beyond L1 and L2 support scope, including incident recovery and architecture-level problem solving.

11. Backup and Data Protection Management for Office:

Ensure regular backups are performed and validated (including Synology devices), and that data recovery processes are tested and reliable for both office and vessel system.

12. Emergency & Business Continuity Support for Office:

Support business continuity planning (BCP) and IT disaster recovery (DR) capabilities to ensure the organization can recover quickly from unforeseen disruptions or cyber events.
