We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) to serve as an Animal Paramedic on our Emergency Animal Ambulance team. In this high-stakes role, you will be the lead medical provider inside our specially equipped ambulance, responding to emergency calls, delivering advanced life support in the field, and ensuring patients arrive at the hospital in the most stable condition possible. This position is ideal for an emergency technician who thrives outside the traditional clinic setting and is dedicated to the highest standards of emergency medicine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Emergency Dispatch Response: Respond immediately to dispatched emergency calls for incidents including trauma, choking, respiratory arrest, toxin ingestion, and critical illness.
  • On-Scene Triage: Perform rapid and accurate patient assessment and triage at the scene to determine the severity of injury or illness and prioritize treatment.
  • Advanced Field Care: Provide advanced emergency medical care under the direction of our on-call veterinarians, including:

  • Oxygen therapy and airway management (intubation).

  • Emergency venipuncture and intravenous or intraosseous catheter placement.
  • Administration of IV fluids, emergency medications, and analgesics.
  • Emergency wound care, bleeding control, and bandaging.
  • Fracture and spinal immobilization.
  • Performing CPR and following RECOVER guidelines.
  • Continuous Monitoring: Utilize onboard equipment to continuously monitor and record patient vitals (ECG, blood pressure, SPO2, temperature) throughout transport.
  • Client Liaison: Provide calm, clear, and professional communication with distressed pet owners, obtain relevant history, and explain procedures with empathy and care.
  • Ambulance Readiness: Maintain the Emergency Animal Ambulance and all its equipment to the highest standard, ensuring it is fully stocked, clean, and functionally prepared for any emergency call.
  • Telemedicine Coordination: Use onboard technology to maintain communication with the receiving veterinary hospital, providing updates and receiving orders.
  • Documentation: Complete detailed electronic Patient Care Reports (ePCR) for every incident.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current credentialing as a Certified, Licensed, or Registered Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT).
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in an emergency veterinary hospital or ICU.
  • Mastery of emergency skills: jugular and cephalic catheterization, cystocentesis, intubation, and CPR.
  • Unwavering composure and the ability to make swift, critical decisions under extreme pressure.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a compassionate, empathetic, and professional demeanor.
  • Physical capability to lift 40kg and work effectively in a moving vehicle.

Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • VTS (ECC) or interest in pursuing Emergency/Critical Care specialization.
  • Fear Free Certified Professional.
  • Previous experience in a paramedic, EMT, or other first-responder role.
  • Proficiency with digital communication and reporting software.
