Department

The Biometric Modelling team mandate is to ensure that Life & Health actuaries at SCOR possess or can access the necessary expertise on biometric risks. Specifically, we aim to guarantee the accuracy of actuarial assumptions to properly assess liabilities and capital requirements. 

With this in mind, the team analyses general statistical or insurance data and develops the scientific methods and tools necessary to estimate these risks.

We enhance our expertise by establishing and managing partnerships with university researchers, aiming to anticipate changes in biometric risks and improve our assessment methods. 

Finally, we disseminate knowledge on biometric risks by sharing our expertise through training sessions and publications.

Despite SCOR covers a large variety biometric risk you'll have a strong focus on Critical Illness risk as it is the principal risk covered in Asia.

Responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities

The Research Intern will have the opportunity to work with experienced actuaries at SCOR and will be responsible for

  • Parametric and non-parametric modelling of morbidity asumptions
  • Adapting or developing models based on available tools for mortality and morbidity estimation 
  • Interpretation and analysis of available claims experience and population data and fitting the tools to these data

  • Assisting on best estimate validation of critical illness insurance products

These opportunities will provide you with a very good start for the development of your analytic skillsets and into the actuarial modelling of best estimate assumptions for biometric products. It will also provide insights into thinking, strategy and colaboration in a multinational corporations like SCOR.

Qualifications

Experience: 

  • Previous work experience or internship in a similar environment is not required but will be preferred;
  • Strong mathematical and analytic skills;
  • Hands-on experience in statistical analysis and programming;
  • Previously worked on similar analytical university/work projects;
  • Excellent speaking and written skills in English.
