Description

NPI Supply chain management will be your focus as Materials / Planning Specialist. You may also be responsible for tracking inventory trends and maintaining consistency in material quality. You may be required to handle inventory for production or inventory of products to be shipped to customers. Material Specialist use software systems to design material and supply movement plans for companies. Predict and track customer product demand and develop productivity improvement proposals.

Aspiring Material Specialist must have excellent communication, organization, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, and familiarity with computer and materials management software, such as SAP Inventory/Warehouse Management, Ariba, and Agile.

The Material Specialist will work to streamline the New Product Introduction for the RMI business unit. This professional will oversee the acquisition, distribution, allocation, delivery, and resource disposal of materials. She/he will keep stakeholders communicated on material status across the BU.

Responsibilities

Plans, schedules and monitors the movement of material through the Engineering cycle. Determines material requirements from engineering and production schedules. Coordinates the efficient movement of materials with purchasing, production and engineering. Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity; creates and maintains bills of material and parts/commodities numbers in supply chain management or other Enterprisewide systems.

  • Support NPI programs across the full lifecycle—from material procurement to final product shipment.
  • Document current processes, data standards, and execution requirements.
  • Analyze operational and supply chain data to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and maintain end-to-end (E2E) process flows to support NPI execution.
  • Validate new systems and tools to ensure alignment with business needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and build scalable target systems.
  • Work with IT and data teams to support system integration and automation.
  • Assist Program Managers with sourcing materials from internal and external suppliers.
  • Receive, log, store, and transfer engineering materials to appropriate build locations.
  • Monitor material delivery timelines to meet engineering and production milestones.
  • Identify and resolve material shortages, overages, and delivery issues.
  • Reconcile received goods against purchase orders and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports on material status and risks.
  • Develop and refine work instructions and inventory management processes.
  • Coordinate the disposition of obsolete, non-conforming, and excess materials.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives through inventory optimization and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment on material readiness and program goals.
Required Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in NPI, supply chain, materials planning, or process analysis roles.
  • Experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA in a supply chain or production setting.
  • Proficiency in SQL (queries and stored procedures) is preferred.
  • Strong skills in MS Excel (including macros and lookup functions) and Power BI or equivalent data visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with ERP/PLM systems and data governance practices.
  • Experience with process mapping tools (e.g., Visio, MS PPT).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (in English).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor operations is a plus.
