Queenstown, Singapore Global Energy International Ltd Full time $60,000 - $120,000 per year

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Management: Implement company safety and environmental policies; assist the Technical Manager in vessel technical management and safety inspections.
  2. Operational Support: Provide technical guidance to ensure safe vessel operations and support Chief Engineers in maintenance, repairs, and safety compliance.
  3. Crew Assessment: Evaluate and train engine department officers (new, transferred, or current) on technical competency and performance.
  4. SMS Maintenance: Contribute to the development, revision, and implementation of the company's Safety Management System (SMS).
  5. Emergency Response: Participate in ship-shore emergency drills and provide technical advice on machinery failures and pollution prevention.
  6. Defect Management: Investigate non-conformities on assigned vessels, propose corrective actions, and ensure timely follow-up and closure.
  7. Vessel Inspections: Conduct onboard inspections to verify equipment condition and ensure maintenance plans are properly executed.
  8. Spare Parts Management: Oversee spare parts procurement and monitor timely delivery to vessels.
  9. Dry-Docking & Repairs: Prepare repair specifications and budgets, liaise with shipyards, and supervise repair work.
  10. Additional Tasks: Perform other technical-related duties as assigned by the company.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering or equivalent from a recognized maritime institution.
  2. Certification: Hold a valid Class 1 Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (COC) with relevant sea-going experience as Chief Engineer on Oil and/or Chemical Tankers.

  3. Experience:

  4. Minimum 2 years of shore-based experience in technical management for oil or chemical tankers.

  5. Familiarity with ship repair, classification rules, and SMS procedures.

  6. Technical Skills:

  7. Strong knowledge of marine machinery repair and maintenance.

  8. Proficient in reading English technical manuals and engineering drawings.
  9. Skilled in preparing repair lists, cost estimates, and budgets.

  10. Soft Skills:

  11. Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork abilities.

  12. Fluent in written and spoken English.
