• • Teach Mandarin as a foreign language (11 – 16 year olds)
• Teach Mandarin as a mother tongue (11 – 16 year olds)
• Manage classroom behaviour to optimize student learning
• Facilitate learning amongst a wide range of learners using an inquiry-based approach
• Assess, record and report on student learning and progress through regular assessments
• Contribute to the development of the academic and pastoral curricula
• Attend meetings, complete supervision duties, participate in professional development
• Contribute to student life at GESS and be an active member of the school community

• • Tertiary educational background in the discipline of Mandarin language studies
• Recognised teaching qualification (minimum B.Ed or PGCE equivalent)
• At least 2 years of experience of secondary school classroom teaching
• Knowledge, understanding and teaching experience of the IB's Middle Years Programme highly desirable
• Articulate and effective written and oral communication in English and Mandarin
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience of working in an international school setting advantageous
• Willingness to adapt to and embrace a new school environment
