Our client is seeking a Resident Architect to join their team

This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled Architect to take on a pivotal on-site leadership role overseeing architectural works for large-scale construction projects. As a Resident Architect, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring design compliance, maintaining quality standards, and providing expert architectural guidance while collaborating with diverse stakeholders in a dynamic construction environment.

What you'll be doing?
  • Design compliance: Ensure all construction works adhere to approved architectural drawings, specifications, and relevant Singapore codes, maintaining the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Technical review: Assess shop drawings, material submissions, and method statements for architectural works, guaranteeing alignment with design intent and regulatory standards.
  • Statutory compliance: Manage strict adherence to regulatory requirements and liaise effectively with authorities for inspections or clarifications, ensuring smooth project progression.
  • Quality assurance: Conduct comprehensive site inspections to monitor workmanship quality, materials compliance, and construction progress, upholding project specifications.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed site observation reports and non-conformance reports, maintaining accurate records of all site activities for proper project documentation.
  • Testing and verification: Witness and verify architectural tests, mock-ups, finishes, and material installations, ensuring all quality standards are met to perfection.
  • Cross-functional coordination: Work effectively with Resident Engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and consultants to resolve site issues related to architectural works, fostering a collaborative project environment.
  • Meeting participation: Actively engage in site coordination meetings, providing valuable architectural insights to support project success and team alignment.
  • Trade interface management: Ensure seamless interfacing between architectural works and other trades, including MEP, structural, and interior design works, for cohesive project execution.
  • Site instruction management: Issue site memos or instructions on behalf of the Architectural Consultant or Qualified Person as authorized, facilitating clear communication and project progress.
  • Defects management: Participate in practical completion and final completion inspections, identifying architectural defects and ensuring rectification works meet acceptable standards.
  • Safety promotion: Advocate for site safety related to architectural works, collaborating with the Safety team to ensure compliance with workplace safety requirements.
Who are they looking for?
  • Educational background: Degree in Architecture from a recognized university, providing a robust foundation in architectural principles and practices.
  • Professional registration: Registered Architect or eligible for registration under the Board of Architects Singapore, meeting essential regulatory requirements.
  • Regulatory knowledge: Comprehensive familiarity with Singapore local codes and regulations, including BCA, URA, SCDF, and other relevant authorities, ensuring project compliance.
  • Relevant experience: Minimum 5 years of site supervision experience on large-scale commercial, industrial, institutional, or residential projects, bringing valuable expertise to the role.
  • Quality management: Proven experience in managing quality and compliance for architectural works in complex construction environments, ensuring project excellence.
  • Technical proficiency: Strong knowledge of architectural detailing and construction methods, coupled with proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and BIM viewing tools for effective project coordination.
  • Communication skills: Excellent coordination and communication abilities to work effectively with diverse project stakeholders, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Professional judgment: Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgment in challenging site situations, demonstrating leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel overseas for short-term site assignments, including to China, and availability for overtime work or weekend inspections as required, showing adaptability and commitment.
