Principal Investigator/Senior Principal Investigator – Oral Regeneration and Developmental Biology

The National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS), in collaboration with the National Dental Research Institute Singapore (NDRIS) and Duke-NUS Medical School, is seeking an exceptional Senior Principal Investigator with a focus on oral regeneration and oral developmental biology, particularly in translational applications that advance patient outcomes and clinical innovation. NDCS aims to be a global leader in translational and biomaterials research that transforms oral and craniofacial health.

The successful candidate will be expected to secure national research talent development awards (e.g. NMRC Singapore Translational Research Investigator Award or Clinical Scientist Award), obtain competitive extramural research funding, and establish a robust, independent research programme that bridges basic science with clinical application in the field of oral regeneration and developmental biology. Areas of strategic interest include regenerative biomaterials, stem cell therapies, immunomodulation in oral wound healing, lab-on-chip model sand applications, molecular mechanisms of oral tissue development and repair, and the use of AI in tissue regeneration and biomaterials design.

The candidate is expected to foster strong collaborations with clinical and scientific leaders within the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre, and internationally. Access will be provided to state-of-the-art research infrastructure within the Academic Medical Centre, including translational platforms, core imaging, bioinformatics core facility, advanced bioimaging facility, excellent supercomputing facility, and the national large animal research facility. The candidate will also supervise and mentor graduate students, clinician-scientists, and junior investigators, contributing to research talent development in the field.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in biomedical sciences, tissue engineering, biomaterials, cell biology, developmental biology, or a related field
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Masters of Dental Surgery (MDS), registrable with the Singapore Dental Council
  • Outstanding research track record in oral regeneration, biomaterials, cell biology, developmental biology, or related translational disciplines
  • Demonstrated success in securing competitive national or international research grants
  • Strong publication record in high-impact peer-reviewed journals
  • Proven leadership in building and directing multidisciplinary research teams, developing institutional research capacity, and shaping strategic research agendas
  • Proven leadership in supervising PhD/Masters students and managing research teams
  • Ability to attract or engage with industry collaborators is highly desirable
  • Excellent written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
