**Senior Pricing Actuary, Centralized Pricing Team, Life & Health**:
**We are looking to hire a Senior Life & Health (re-)insurance professional in Singapore (Hong Kong is also an option) to join our Global Underwriting and Pricing team. This is a team that works closely with all regional pricing units and sits at the center of a growing Life & Health business with international responsibility for all lines of L&H business (excl. US health business).**
The role provides the opportunity for exposure to a wide variety of products in diverse markets. Whilst the geographic focus will be in our Asia-Pacific markets, there is exposure to all markets in PartnerRe as we look to develop and promote underwriting best practices.
You will be expected to make a significant contribution to the enhancement of PartnerRe’s L&H best practice underwriting processes/propositions to support the ambitious growth plans. You will play a pivotal role as a link between our Regional Unit, the centralised functions and PartnerRe L&H leadership.
**Responsibilities**:
As part of a global team you will be a key person in helping shape and grow the APAC L&H business, as well as oversee and improve the end-to-end underwriting of deals. This is a strategic priority for PartnerRe and provides an opportunity to be at the heart of the action. In more detail your responsibilities will include:
- Developing a high profile within the business and establishing regular contact with key stakeholders and decision makers
- Close collaboration with the Asia regional unit and other global experts on the pricing and development of new products
- Build strong rapport, trust and credibility with the Asia regional unit, being able to provide advice on pricing issues, while maintaining an independent and objective opinion
- Challenging the underwriting of risk within the regional pricing units in order to encourage better decision making
- Promoting PartnerRe’s expertise through targeted marketing efforts, supporting client visits and externally representing and promoting PartnerRe's capabilities
- Ensuring the consistency of PartnerRe pricing methodologies, group level assumptions and standards
- Reviewing complex and unusual deals, providing an opinion on whether we are suitably rewarded for the risk
- Sharing of best practice for pricing and product development across the regions
- Supporting/driving research and development to enhance the pricing and underwriting infrastructure
- Working on other ad-hoc projects as required
By working closely with the Chief Pricing Actuary and other team members, you will be part of a centralised team of experienced industry professionals seen as adding value and ensuring the L&H business grows in a profitable and controlled way.
**About you**:
**You are a qualified Senior Pricing Actuary with at least 8 years of L&H (re-)insurance underwriting or pricing experience with a proven track record in long term protection and/or short term group.**
You have the skill, competence and mindset to enable you to add value in areas outside your immediate area of expertise, and a deep knowledge of L&H products, distribution and/or reinsurance structures.
As a technically excellent individual you will have the ability to be pragmatic and demonstrate commercial sense, you have the desire to experience new and challenging areas. Moreover, you are fully proficient in English (verbal and written).
As the main contact point between the local pricing team and the centralized pricing team, you will build rapport and credibility with the local pricing team, acting as a sounding board for pricing issues, while maintaining an objective and independent opinion on deals.
You enjoy collaborating with your colleagues as well as working on your own. Your preference is to be part of an international and multicultural environment, handling diverse tasks, yet always ready to serve the team and meet the business needs.
In addition, you ideally have/are:
- **experience in the APAC region, and other international markets**:
- recognized expert in the underwriting, pricing and/or risk assessment of L&H products
- a strong understanding of the factors that influence profitability
- In the review of deals, to be able to see the big picture and identify key risks and any other special pricing or commercial considerations, while having a good sense of whether the pricing results look reasonable
- the ability to advise on underwriting of deals where there is limited data available or new underlying risks
- experience of Financial Solutions and actuarial projections systems (e.g. AXIS)
