Database Engineer

Principal Responsibilities
- Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration
- Install, monitor, and maintain SQL Server software, implement backup and recovery processes, provide performance tuning and assist in business process integration with various data sources.
- Has prior working experience with SQL Server Administration and expertise in Transact-SQL.
- Has good working knowledge of SQL Server database architecture.
- Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of database internals and data structures.
- Has hands-on experience with database optimization and tuning.
- Fulfills user requests ranging from access control, backup, restore, refresh to non-production to performance tuning.
- Production support for other RDBMS Platforms - SYBASE ASE & MySQL
- Provide APAC hour online & on call coverage for production support and administration of SYBASE, and MySQL databases.
- Understands and has experience with SYBASE ASE, & MySQL databases are a big plus.
- Fulfills user requests ranging from access control, backup, restore to some high level of performance tuning.

Qualifications/Skills Required
- Bachelor degree in computer science, or information technology, or other related field of study
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration/ Engineering
- Quick learner, Detail oriented; Demonstrable thoroughness and strong ownership of work.
- Good team player with a strong willingness to participate and help others.
- Able to prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment; High sense of urgency
- Excellent phone presence, high degree of professional acumen
- Strong communication skills, and excellent listening skills
- Knowledge of SYBASE & MySQL is a big plus
