Middle Office Specialist

The Operations & Middle Office department sits at the heart of firm’s Core Infrastructure, responsible for firm-wide portfolio valuations, trade processing and trade lifecycle management, as well as driving infrastructure strategy and platform delivery to all portfolio managers and businesses across the firm.

Job Function Summary

The Middle Office Specialist (Trade Support) is responsible for precise and timely trade capture of all trades, ensuring all the intraday risk are captured accurately, and covering multiple products and asset classes including: Futures, Options, FX, Bonds, IRS, Cash Equities, Equity Swaps, Convertible Bonds and other OTC Derivatives. The role will involve working very closely with wider Middle Office P&L/Valuations team, as well as with Technology, Risk, and Core Operations teams for timely resolution of daily trade related issues as well as leading ongoing initiatives to enhance the firm’s trade processing and controls processes.

Principal Responsibilities
- Responsible for monitoring intra-day trading activity of all Fixed Income and Equities instruments. Establish procedures and methods for accurate Trade Capture within the firm on a trade date basis, in conjunction with Risk and Technology.
- Ensure accurate and timely trade affirmation across multiple asset classes on trade date. Work with various stakeholders internally as well as externally in order to ensure timely resolution of breaks.
- Be a central point of contact for Portfolio Managers and Trading teams to resolve any position, pricing, technology, risk and security related issues.
- Work with various internal teams to streamline processes and enhance controls
- Liaise with prime brokers, sell-side dealers and vendors on a regular basis to resolve issues and improve procedures
- Perform daily regulatory reporting functions, ensuring the accuracy of the data submitted to regulators
- Participate and drive ongoing & new projects and initiatives; analyze existing processes, design and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency & controls

Qualifications/Skills Required
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Min 8- years of experience in Middle Office, Trade Support or Trade Assistant roles
- Knowledge of full product life cycle, ideally across multiple products. Detailed understanding of at least one product is a must: Interest rates derivatives, Credit derivatives, FX, Equities or Commodities
- Experience with at least one of following systems - Markitwire, CTM, Murex, Imagine, Bloomberg, Reuters
- Detail-oriented; demonstrable thoroughness and strong ownership of work
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with wider teams and departments
- Good team player with a strong willingness to participate and help others; demonstrates leadership qualities and entrepreneurial mindset
- Quick learner; has the ability to grasp new concepts around products and processes quickly
- Ability to multitask, prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment; high sense of urgency
- Analytical and strategic thinker with strong desire to learn; diligent and strives to drive continuous improvement
