The purpose of this role is to support the team in achieving profitable growth by providing underwriting advice, technical support, and training
to develop individuals within the team. This role involves managing complex underwriting cases, contributing to product strategy, and
building relationships with intermediaries to drive business growth. The role also includes underwriting new business and renewals within set
guidelines and authority levels to meet business objectives.

The opportunity
- Actively seek out and underwrite risks across the suite of Financial Lines products in QBE’s Wholesale (Facultative Reinsurance) markets of Asia, in a profitable manner and according to authority level and established guidelines. This entails Wholesale/ Facultative RI underwriting, with some Retail Underwriting responsibilities.
- Monitor portfolio for profitability and growth and take corrective measures as needed.
- Maintain and adhere to all underwriting file documentation standards.
- Participate in special and strategic projects impacting the business.

Your new role
- Materially contribute to the development and implementation of the Business Unit's Business Plan.
- Actively manage renewal portfolio and new business targets.
- Underwrite complex risks following defined limits of authority, organisational policy and underwriting standards.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, brokers and colleagues.
- Monitor and communicate activity within your portfolio, brokers and competitors and report on opportunities and risks to improve results.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement processes.
- Deliver timely decisions and problem-solving solutions to customers and intermediaries.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders for profitable growth.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of current legislation, best practices, underwriting, systems, products and organisational guidelines.

About You
- Significant underwriting experience in the insurance industry, across the full suite of Financial Lines products, including operations, sales, underwriting, and claims.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills;
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, effective negotiation skills, and skilled presentation aptitude;
- Strong customer-service focus; able to organize and prioritize to meet multiple demands and commitments;
- Team player that enjoys collaboration.
- Established customer/broker relationships.
- Use of risk profiling, pricing tools, and loss models.
- People management experience
- Level 4-5 underwriting authority.
