**About the Role**

We seek a highly skilled Application Programmer with deep expertise in Oracle PL/SQL, Big Data technologies, and Unix scripting to join a high-impact, client-facing team. This role is ideal for a hands-on technologist with at least 12+ years of enterprise-level experience, preferably in the insurance or banking domain, who thrives in complex data environments and has experience managing batch processes, system migrations, and large-scale data operations.

**Responsibilities**
- Design, develop, and optimize Oracle PL/SQL procedures, packages, and functions supporting business-critical systems.
- Build and maintain batch processing jobs using Unix shell scripting and Autosys, ensuring smooth daily and monthly operations.
- Work on data ingestion, transformation, and migration using Sqoop, Hive, Spark, and HDFS.
- Collaborate with QA and business analysts for unit, integration, and system testing.
- Lead code reviews, enforce development standards, and ensure code quality in production systems.
- Participate in legacy system modernization projects and end-to-end data platform transitions.
- Provide on-call production support and troubleshoot job failures or performance bottlenecks.
- Contribute to internal knowledge building with optional work on AI/ML projects (CNN, Recommender Systems, etc.)

**Requirements**:

- Experience in the Banking or Insurance sector is highly desired
- Strong expertise in Oracle PL/SQL and working with large relational datasets.
- Proficient in Unix/Linux environments, with strong shell scripting abilities.
- Proven experience with Big Data tools: Sqoop, Hadoop, Hive, Spark and HDFS.
- Prior work on job scheduling and automation using Autosys or similar tools.
- Experience in data migration projects, especially involving legacy systems.
- Ability to handle complex production environments with mínimal supervision.
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and Python-based data projects is a bonus (but not mandatory).
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact directly with stakeholders and QA teams.
