Project Introduction: Self-regulated learning (SRL) refers to the way that individuals manage their cognition and behaviour in order to achieve their learning goals. The aim of this project is to investigate the level and role of SRL in relation to emotions and academic achievement in secondary school children. The project involves two studies: Study 1 will involve the collection, analysis and interpretation of survey data from a large sample of secondary school students; Study 2 will extend on that using state-of-the-art multimodal classroom research methods involving the collection, coding, quantification, and analysis of behavioural, physiological, and self-report data acquired during real secondary Maths lessons. The outcomes are expected to provide unique insight into SRL in local school contexts, inform SRL theory, as well as future interventions aiming to improve SRL and socio-emotional skills in adolescents. The successful applicant will help drive all aspects of the project and will receive training in a wide range of research skills in order to collect, analyze, and interpret multimodal data.

**Requirements**:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science, or related field.
- Relevant research experience
- Good verbal communication and writing skills.
- Basic knowledge of statistics and SPSS.
- Able to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Able to work cooperatively in teams
- Proactive, willing to learn, reliable and able to manage concurrent tasks in a timely manner
- Experience with data analysis and publications an advantage
- Statistical skills and/or knowledge with additional analysis software (e.g., Matlab, Mplus, R) an advantage

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct literature reviews
- Assist with data collection, processing and analysis
- Assist in the administration and management of project
- Assist in writing of reports
- Maintain and document research records
- Other tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator
