TE Connectivity's Procurement Teams are responsible for developing and implementing multi-year strategies for commodities, suppliers and services to achieve established goals in supplier quality, delivery, price and service. They generate forecasts and perform analysis to identify trends, opportunities, threats and needed course correction in purchasing, strategic sourcing and other areas of business. They are also responsible for creating "what if" scenarios to guide future business planning decisions.
**What your background should look like**:
Lead a team of global commodity managers, responsible for driving the commodity and supplier strategy for the Data and Devices business. The leader will need to work across several different commodity categories which include mechanical and electronics. Critical to drives the collaboration across cross-functional teams internally, including engineering, quality, product marketing and corporate procurement to deliver desired outcomes. The leader will follow the SET (Strategy, Execution, Talent) framework to manage the business.
**Responsibilities-**
- Develop and executes sourcing strategies
- Develop and manage supplier relationships and performance
- Obtains market, industry, and supplier information for key commodities/materials so business can proactively plan for any changes
- Drive material localization effort to achieve cost reduction and delivery service flexibility
- Drive business (process, supplier and commodity) integration with any M&A activity
- Implement a comprehensive risk resiliency program working closely with the supply chain team
- Executes the competitive bid, negotiation, and contracting processes for direct materials.
- Handles all aspects of negotiations with suppliers including price, volume, delivery, quality, and service & inventory levels.
- Collaborates with Design Engineering & Manufacturing teams to drive NPI project execution and determine direct material specifications/requirements, supplier capabilities, and to drive cost reduction.
- Acts as an escalation point for delivery and quality issues that cannot be resolved by direct material buyers and obtains favorable resolutions for TE.
- Reports and implements key TE Supply Chain Metrics (STR-delivery, Commercial Productivity—cost reduction, DLPM-quality).
- Lead quarterly supplier scorecard review to drive supplier performance improvement in quality, delivery, cost
- Develop and ready existing/new suppliers to achieve material, volume, location, capacity requirements. Ensures supplier audits are completed/passed, and strategizes with QA as required to improve and ensure supplier quality
- Work with Quality to ensure that monthly supplier performance during NPI phase. In addition, that supplier issues are being resolved before introduction. Engages commodity managers if required.
- Communicate with Sales, and Design Engineering to ensure new and existing materials reduces company’s overall risk exposure in the supply chain.
- Ensures direct materials are sourced in full compliance with TE policies and guidelines.
- Enforce company and functional processes, policies and safety regulations; discipline as necessary
- Oversee and delegate work loads of employees, ensure projects, and assignments achieve goals/targets
- Monitor and evaluate performance of employees, personnel requirements, selection, training
- Develop, coach and build a high performing and engaged team
- Instill global mindset with strategic thinking in the organization
- Act as a change agent to challenge status quo if needed
**Requirements-**:
- Strong leadership, organizational, and planning skills.
- Good financial and business acumen
- Strong communication skills, working knowledge of relevant industries associated with supply base
- Monitor and evaluate performance of employees, personnel requirements, selection, training
- Good understanding of end-to-end new product development and new product introduction cycles
- Essential negotiation and leadership skills, proactive team player, sense of responsibility, self-motivated and goal-oriented attitude
- Experience working with integrated manufacturing software systems, i.e. ERP, MRP
**Education/Experience**:
- Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain or Engineering discipline required
- 10+ years of supply chain/operations, 3+ yrs of advanced procurement is preferred
- 5+ years of management experience
- Global exposure in previous roles is required
- Graduate degree in business (i.e. MBA) is preferred
